Qualifications: B. A. Fine Art , Higher Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy, Diploma in Gestalt Therapy, Diploma in Art Therapy & Sand tray Therapy, Accredited EFT (Tapping) Practioner. Professional Memberships: IAHIP, ICP & AMMET. Academic Background: Ciara holds an honours degree in Fine Art from the National College of Art & Design Dublin. She has also trained in Art Therapy and Sand tray Therapy. She is currently studying a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Ciara originally trained as a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist in the Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre in Gardiner Street. Since then she has completed a Diploma in Gestalt Therapy and Child Psychotherapy. She is also an Accredited EFT (Tapping) practitioner. EFT is a gentle form of bodywork which involves tapping on certain energy points around the head and body as a way of relieving stress, anxiety and tension. Work Experience: Ciara has been working as a psychotherapist for the past 15 years. During that time she has worked in a number of organisations. She has extensive experience of working on a broad range of issues including anxiety, addictions, depression, past or recent trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, work related issues, bereavement and grief. She is currently employed as family therapist on a drug & alcohol treatment programme. Ciara works with individuals, couples and families. Before training as a therapist she worked in the areas of education, community development and the visual arts. Ciara is an experienced trainer and group facilitator and has designed and implemented a number of psycho educational programmes for groups and organisations. Underpinning Philosophy: Ciara creates a safe, non-judgemental space for her clients. She believes that when these conditions are in place our self-awareness grows and we can learn to trust our intuition which helps us find our own answers to what it is that is causing us distress or holding us back in our lives. With this clarity we can develop more helpful ways of managing difficult thoughts, feelings and situations and take the necessary steps to create changes that can lead to a more fulfilling life.
